"Buddy G, My Two Moms and Me" Selected for the San Diego Children's Film Festival
"Buddy G, My Two Moms and Me" is the first animated cartoon series starring a boy with two mothers. The cartoon has been selected to screen later this month at the 5th Annual San Diego International Children's Film Festival.
/Nebraska News Articles/ - SAN DIEGO, CA, July 23, 2008 - Us2, an Omaha-based mom and mom production company, announces that "Buddy G, My Two Moms and Me" has been selected for The 5th Annual San Diego International Children's Film Festival.
Buddy G is the first animated series to star a child with two moms. In addition, the show touches on the educational bench marks for science through Buddy G's interactive armband computer, Socrates. Buddy G sets the new standard in family programming in which families of all shapes and sizes are woven into the mainstream fabric.
"We wanted our son to see families like his represented in an educationally-based cartoon. Since nothing was available, we created one for him and all the other children with LGBT parents," according to Executive Producer Margaux Towne-Colley.
"Buddy G reflects reality, most - if not all - children will meet another child with gay parents, and there needs to be a vehicle for including these families in mainstream entertainment for children," said Towne-Colley.
The cast and crew of Buddy G, My Two Moms and me recently returned from the show's first guest appearance as part of the entertainment aboard the R Family Vacation summer cruise. The series is also in the process of securing a private investment that will allow the show to extend beyond the original episode.
"The beauty of Buddy G is we could substitute any character or even cast of characters into the series and the content would not have to change at all," said Towne-Colley. "Take Buddy G and his moms out of the series and substitute the families from Dora, Little Bill, or Caillou, and the dialogue and storylines could stay the same. Bottom line is that the show isn't about the so called gay agenda." For this reason, Towne-Colley is especially pleased to be included in a mainstream and well-respected children's film festival such as the San Diego International Children's Film Festival.
Buddy G will screen on Sunday, July 27, 2008, in the San Diego Convention Center at 10:30 a.m.
